The PowerPod, made by Velocomp, isn’t your ordinary power meter. Unlike more traditional power meters that attach to your drivetrain (crank, crank arm or hubs) or pedals and measure your power using strain gauges, the Velocomp PowerPod v3 Power Meter attaches to your handlebars and measures your power through wind measurement – the forces that oppose the rider. This is called opposing force technology. The PowerPod uses an accelerometer, a wind pressure sensor, an elevation sensor and a speed sensor – all to measure power.

PowerPod’s accuracy is on par with the more expensive, traditional type power meters. In addition, the benefits to this type of power meter are numerous. Compared to a more traditional power meter, the PowerPod power meter is much easier to move between bikes, there are no compatibility issues, it’s simple to set up, you don’t have to change out any of your prized components, and it’s one of the most affordable power meters on the market.

The PowerPod works on road bikes and mountain bikes and transmits power data via the ANT+ and Bluetooth SMART wireless protocols.

Easily Transferable

Since the PowerPod simply attaches to your handlebars, the power meter can be quickly and easily transferred from bike to bike.

Light Weight

The PowerPod weighs just 32 grams. To put it in perspective, this is about the weight of 32, average size paperclips.

Powerpod V3

So far, so excellent! After downloading the I-bike software and charging and connecting the device it was quite easy to set up.(easier doing it than reading the instructions!). There wasn't a lot of info on pairing with my Garmin, so just switched the device on and paired the speed and cadence sensors, selected "find sensors" on Garmin, ticked power meter and job done. So far I am pleased with the results although it does take a couple of minutes to settle at the start of a ride. For an affordable, fairly accurate power meter I would definitely recommend.

This version works

I had the V2 version and it was flakey and only ant+.
Got this and it actually is stable never an issue setup was easy and reliability has been good.
I have it working with Garmin 1030 and endomondo on the phone via ble.
At this price I would highly recommend it for the average rider who just wants to improve fitness.
It's also has a better battery life.

Vanillabikes, great store!

POWERPOD V3 POWER METER at the best price and shipped quickly. Excellent communication, thanks!

Prompt delivery, well packaged, nifty product!

Having borrowed a Powerpod V2 from a friend for a few weeks last year I had been wanting to get hold of a power meter of my own for quite a while. So, this was a joint birthday/Christmas present from several family members. I am very pleased with it so far. It is small, unobtrusive and pretty straightforward to set up. You just need to remember to press the button and spin your wheel before you go, so that it switches on. Since receiving it I have been attacking climbs with a bit more gusto, knowing something of my power limitations, etc. I'm looking forward to using it in my training in the months ahead...

Good price and service

All in all good, only downside is that it is not informed on website if product is in backorder. Gave an extra week of waiting i did not expect
