You can buy Tiagra anywhere but I chose Vanilla Bikes however because their groupset builder offered more options than the likes to Wiggle et al. Groupset arrived in the stated delivery period but when it did I realised that by being a total numpty I had ordered the wrong front mech for my frame, not a problem the team at Vanilla were really helpful in switching it for the correct one and I was on the road in time for the weekend!
First time customer but will definitely be shopping with these guys again!
I am happy I have good experience with them.
Bought the Tiagra as I wanted to update/upgrade the 5 year old Sora/Aftermarket components on my bike and I wanted the challenge of fitting a groupset myself.
Vanilla Bikes had a great deal on for the whole set + the option to customise every component was absolutely perfect. There was quite a delay in receiving the parts, but customer services were good at setting out what the issue was & option to cancel.
So far, nothing's fallen off the bike. The groupset performs nicely (nothing like a fresh drivetrain to make you "feel" faster, even if the speeds the same). I've ridden the groupset for about 200km & apart from some minor tweaks, everything's running smoothly:
Crankset and BB are sturdy.
Cassette & chain working nicely.
Rear derailleur needed barely any set-up
Front derailleur requires a lot of tension on the cable, but working fine.
Brakes provide surprisingly good feedback
Shifters are excellent, so far. The most noticeable change from my previous set up.
For the price, would definitely recommend.
All parts delivered as expected but a little longer delivery time than expected.
Quick responses when questions were asked.
Absolutely recommendable :-)
I got what I ordered and it is perfect but after a battle. When ordering it was started in stock to be told after 2 weeks they were waiting for an order. Got promised 2 more delivery dates and this were not met either. I would be very slow to use Vanilla bikes again
Highly recomended if you like to go up hills.
Really liked the drop down menu giving choice of components in the group set.
FANTASTIC BUY, MY BIKE RIDES LIKE NEW -THANK YOU VANILLA BIKES
I REPLACED SORA 3500 ON MY GIANT RACER AND DECIDED TO UPGRADE TO TIAGRA,IT WAS GOOD CHOICE.
GREAT SERVICE FROM VANILLABIKES AND RESPONSIVNES.I RECOMMMED THEM!
Have rebuilt my cx as I use it for winter/ commute, up to now I am more than happy. ( kept my disc brakes) Service from Vanillabikes was excellent
Easy to install, great price, fast delivery and flexible combos.... didn't have to pay extra for larger cage... very happy!
Great equipment. Liked that Vanilla enabled me to choose cassette 32 or 34, and derreulier small or medium size so that i knew i was getting what I needed.Good service will use again.
Looks like a great groupset, Vanillabikes had the best range of options, and the best price. Would use again.
Shimano Tiagra 4700 Groupset
Found Vanillabikes to be the best value and offer a wider range of components. The items came well packed and in good condition.Slight delay with order but good communication from seller.First time I have used them but it won't be the last.
I installed the Tiagra 4700 on my "bad weather" Alu commuter bike which originally came with a Sora 3400 groupset with thumb shifters and the so called washing lines (which I personally really hate ;-). The shifting of gears has now improved significantly, I can hardly notice any difference to my good weather carbon bike equipped with Ultegra 6800. Very crisp! Only the brakes may be slightly less responsive compared to the Ultegra, but after installing spare brake pads from my ultegra group, this also improved. So far, I am pleased with the Tiagra 4700. And great service from Vanillabikes on delivery timing (was not in stock when ordering).
Good choice of components for group-set, prompt delivery. All you want.
Vanilla Bikes give you the best options when selecting the components for the group set. You don't have as much choice on even the largest of competitors. Fits great, runs great and I am very impressed thank you!
I bought the 4700 groupset to go on my steel gravel bike primarily so I could run a compact crankset with an 11-34 cassette. And run the levers with juintech cable operated hydrolic disc brakes. So i cant coment on the 4700 brake calipers. However the rest of the groupset is amazing. The quality of the finish is almost on par with the 6800 I have on another bike and at first glance when fitted to my gravel bike the 4700 looks identical to the ultegra 6800. In general the tiagra 4700 has a really nice quality feel to it.
The crank arms are forged not hollow like ultegra but are plenty stif enough and look fantastic too. The medium cage rear mech shifts super slick up and down the 11-34 cassette and I can't tell the diffrence at all between the ultegra 6800 front shifting and the tiagra. It's very quick and precise. And the levers work superbly with my juintech calipers.
All in all for the money the tiagra 4700 is a superb groupset it exudes quality and works flawlessly and looks great on the bike. And like everything else shimano , it will give years of trouble free service no doubt.
Great groupset, always used Campag, but having used this in Majorca it worked flawlessly, was looking for a change and needed a new group for my winter bike. Vanilla offer you more options, whilst other shops offer you one size of crank length or not as many cassette options. I needed a 175mm chainset - no problem Guys at Vanilla said they'd get it the next day and they gave me a 5% discount voucher...cheers. Their advice is only a phone call away. Will use again.
I've just built up a new winter bike with Tiagra 4700 and equally love it compared with 105 5800. It's as crisp if not crisper and is just as easy if not easier to shift. Though in reality it's probably just the same, no performance lag anyway. I ride a 52/36 paired with a 11-25. Before ordering from Vanilla I called to check they could deliver within my time frame and end to end provide faultless customer service and said they would call if the delivery was going to be delayed, but as they assured me it'd arrive on time and it did! Kudos to you Vanilla Bikes!
